COMMEMORATING INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Fifteen years after losing her ability to see, Rosemarie Ramitt is a fierce advocate for youth with disabilities in Guyana. Her personal experience confronting discrimination and microaggressions inspires her work to mainstream youth with disabilities within rural communities and educate them on their rights.

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, USAID published a story about how Rosemarie increases young people’s knowledge of accessible voting methods for persons with disabilities, which she learned about when she participated in IFES’s Youth Advocacy, Linkages, Leadership in Elections and Society (Youth ALLIES) program.

Read IFES’s story about Rosemarie and how she is building a more inclusive Guyana.

Some of our incredible partners, who create more inclusive democracies that deliver for all, celebrated the disability rights movement and key leader Judith Heumann at our Democracy Awards Dinner in October. That’s why IFES’ Center for Anti-Corruption and Democratic Trust is supporting actors advocating for transparency and government accountability.

Ahead of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC CoSP), IFES is proud to advocate for political finance transparency as a key anti-corruption priority that supports political integrity.

IFES is co-hosting two-panel discussions at the 10th UNCAC CoSP:
